Beth and Jack were Uni sweethearts, having met on the second day at the University of Chester and finally starting a relationship after some classic “just good friends” claims! As Beth says, they began as friends and continue to be such good friends to this day. Cut to a few years later when Jack said he wanted to take Beth away for her birthday but that the destination was a surprise. After surprising her by changing their car to an Aston Martin that was waiting for them, she realised that they were on their way to Chester, and when they pulled into a driveway and went for a stretch, she realised that they were on the suspension bridge when Jack used to stand and watch her row. Jack got down on one knee and proposed in the pouring rain – which combined with lots of tears and mascara! – and the moment was even captured by a passing photographer, despite the rain! They stayed at the Grosnevor, where they’d stayed the night of their graduation, and the next morning Jack had arranged for Afternoon Tea with both sets of parents at The Fields, which ended up being their wedding venue. They managed to get permission from the Archbishop to get permission to get married at the church on Chester Uni campus, and their ultra-romantic wedding was all set.
“I honestly cannot thank everyone at Alice Rose enough. I’d rushed to another boutique as soon as we’d got engaged as my Mum was getting very ill and I wanted her to be part of the experience. However, it was too much pressure and we knew that we hadn’t seen “the one” so I then decided to wait until Mum had sadly passed away. We therefore arrived at Alice Rose Bridal feeling very overwhelmed and emotional, as I wanted Mum’s approval somehow, but I felt very listened to and so supported by Donna and the team. Nothing was a problem and they gave me the space to just look, with no pressure. Every time I visited I felt so comforted and supported by strong women, and they took that pain away by giving me the space to not be OK. I live over an hour away but you were the suppliers who I felt supported me the most, and I’m so grateful.”
“As soon as I tried on Suzi Quatro I knew this is it. I didn’t want anything tight fitting and it was so comfortable – the material hugged me in all of the right places and I knew I’d still be able to eat! Everyone was crying and it was exactly like one that Mum had fallen in love with.”
“I just loved the detachable skirt. I love a boogie and it gave me the space to have a dance. I also loved the way it crossed over at the top – it was so flattering. The elegance and beauty was in the simplicity – it didn’t need any sparkles or ruffles or feathers – yet it had such a dramatic train.”
“My advice is to follow your heart. We felt lots of pressure from others but found that in the end everything fell into place. It’s difficult not to stress over the small stuff but don’t – just think about what’s going to be enjoyable and it will all be worth it.”
