Caroline and Pete first met when Pete’s daughter worked with Caroline for a short time and wanted to introduce her to her single Dad! Despite both of them not looking for a relationship, before they knew it, they had moved in together and were enjoying every moment. They had chatted about getting married, and Caroline had put her grandma’s engagement ring in a box so when Pete was ready he knew it was there. Caroline is a funeral arranger, and part of her job is to look for potential venues. One day she went to talk about funerals and ended up finding their wedding venue! This meant that they’d got to the point where they’d booked their venue but hadn’t actually had a proposal – talk about pressure! However, the proposal did not disappoint: one evening Pete suggested going to look at the Blackpool Illuminations and got down on one knee as they walked through a globe of fairy lights. Not only was this super romantic, but also such a wonderful symbol of their new life together. Next step, wedding planning, and Caroline is definitely a woman after our own hearts as she colour-coordinated her day around her Irregular Choice shoes! We love it!
“Having taken friends to Alice Rose Bridal, I knew from experience that Donna is amazing at what she does. I was never going to go anywhere else to look for my dream dress, and I didn’t. Donna really listens to what you say and it’s just the best experience. The boutique is so beautiful and intimate, and you are not just a number – the individual attention makes the experience perfection and you can’t put a price on that. I was more than happy to travel two and a half hours for it!”
“Pete and I are into our 60s music so I’d originally had a tea-length dress in mind, but end up going for the complete opposite! I had an entourage of six or seven people and everybody picked out a dress, but actually the one I ended up choosing was one that Donna picked out for me. I wanted a romantic day and I loved Macie by Romantica of Devon for the sheer romantic element. I loved her as she was, but an idea of a sleeve developed over time (!) and Cherilyn was fantastic in adding cap sleeves to perfectly match the tulle in the main body of the dress.”
“I feel like Macie would fit in any venue, and made me feel so special. It really felt like my moment – I wanted everyone to look at me, and they did! The magnificent veil completed the look, especially on the beach. I felt amazing!”
“My advice when choosing a dress is keep an open mind. I was convinced I wanted a tea-length, but I didn’t like it on. If it feels right, just do it! That goes for the day itself too – our day was so relaxed and happy and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
