Lily and James met through a friend of a friend when Lily was back home from uni for the summer, and soon discovered that when they were younger they used to play on the same street! Lily returned to uni resigning herself to the assumption that it was just a summer fling, only for James to come to surprise her and they didn’t look back. It was on a shooting trip up to Scotland where Jake got down on one knee and proposed, on top of a mountain with the sunset behind them – the perfect setting as they both love the countryside. They got married at St Peter’s Church in Market Bosworth before a marquee reception in a field on James’ family smallholding, and as you can see, it was a day filled with family, love and rural charm.

“My mum lives in Ashby, and I’d always been drawn to Alice Rose Bridal as it’s my kind of vibe. Even before I was looking, I’d said, that’s where I want my dress from. When it came to the time for my appointment, William had just been born and life was a bit chaotic! However, the first dress I saw was Magnolia by Eddy K and I just knew it was the one! I couldn’t quite believe this, so I tried on others but I kept on getting drawn back to it. As Donna said, the dress was made for me.”

“The thing I loved most about my dress was how lacy it was. I’m not a sparkle person usually but it was a wedding, and Magnolia had a bit of sparkle but not too much – just the right amount! It wasn’t too tight-fitting but also wasn’t too big – the bodice gave shape and then it flowed down to the bottom and was just perfect!”

“It fit in with our countryside vibe perfectly and wasn’t too plain. The massive train looked amazing in the church, and then I could hook it up for the marquee.”

“My advice is to go with your gut and not to overthink it. You know more than you think you do, so just go for it!”
