The Happy Couple
When the time is right, the time is right. Having been set up on a blind date through friends, Kate and Paul decided to take it slow as they both had families to bring up, and waited twenty years until they decided the time was right to marry. When they made the decision, it was a mutual one, and came as a wonderful surprise to those around them! Family is everything to them, and their day was a wonderful celebration of young and young at heart. Both Kate and Paul are lucky enough to still have both sets of parents – Kate’s Dad is 94 and yet still managed to walk her down the aisle – and they wanted a venue that could accommodate their parents’ needs whilst also having room for their grandchildren to run around, and Pendrell Hall with its big ballroom where everyone could be together felt the perfect choice. Add a blessing of perfect weather for the terrace and they had the most fabulous of weekends, full of joy and love.
Confetti and Joy
“I started my search for my dress on the internet – I didn’t want a long dress so was searching for tea dresses when I came across House of Mooshki. When I discovered that Alice Rose Bridal was a local stockists I couldn’t believe my luck as Ashby is such a lovely place to go. I spoke to Donna as the samples she stocked weren’t the ones I’d chosen online, but she got them delivered in days and nothing was too much trouble. My Mum is in a wheelchair and Donna was so welcoming and accommodating – she was so lovely and made us feel at ease.”

“As soon as I tried on Amelia, it just felt perfect – it’s true that you know when you’ve got the right dress! She was just stunning. I loved the layers of lace and the subtle blush colour of the satin underneath, which was highlighted by the ribbon around the waist with a flat bow sewn in. The sleeves went to just below the elbow and covered everything I wanted covering. And shoes were really important as the shorter skirt meant I got to really show them off!”
Fabulous in every setting
“The shorter style was perfect for the venue as I didn’t want the dress to be dragging on the floor getting covered in mud when we were outside. My bridesmaids had shorter dresses too so we matched, and had pale pink to match my dress. Our flowers were ivory, which tied in with my dress too!”
A family affair
“My advice when looking for a dress is to start your search online in the comfort of your own home. I found the outlets were geared towards youngsters and I already had a good idea of the type of dress I wanted, so finding Alice Rose Bridal was just wonderful!”
