Combining style and elegance with a large amount of fun (and lederhosen!), Rachel and Patrick’s wedding was brimming with joy and laughter. Having met when they were both working at the same brewery in Burton on their placement year of Uni, they decided it made sense to marry in a Brewery, and what a stunning location it was! The Wylam Brewery in Rachel’s native Newcastle isn’t your average brewery: set in the middle of a park, it used to be an Art Museum, and the mix of grandeur and industrialism give such a unique flavour to their joyous celebration. The gorgeous couple got engaged seven years after the day they met in Burton. Patrick is German – hence the lederhosen as part of his sensational wedding outfit – and England happened to be playing Germany when he rang Rachel’s Dad to ask for permission to marry his daughter. Rachel’s Dad joked “as long as England beat Germany”, and luckily, they did! So we may have Rachel and Patrick’s clear love for each other to thank for that result!

“Originally I just looked in high street stores for my dress as we weren’t planning on having a big wedding. However, my friend from work had bought her dress from Alice Rose and said I should go just to see and I am so glad I did! Donna makes you feel insane – so, so special. I fell in love with the dress and the shop, and even though I still went elsewhere as I’d already made appointments, I knew there was no point as nothing could compare. “I thought I’d go for a tight, beaded dress but when I tried one on it just wasn’t right. Then I tried on Costa Rica by Dando London and instantly fell in love. I love how it pulls in the waist to make you look slim and when Donna suggested the belt, I thought, this is it. Lots of people are going for a ballgown at the moment, and the belt added a unique touch to make it mine. We took out the underskirt too, and the result was perfect.”

“My advice when shopping for your wedding dress? Believe in the one and don’t say yes to anything else. Nothing else compared to Costa Rica for me, so go on how you feel. After all, you’re the one who gets to wear it!”
